If you’ve followed us for a while, then you’ve heard of Ruta Tecolote. It’s the trail that started it all for us at Twin City. People love this trail, and we promise you will too. This trail has something for everyone; it varies in difficulties and showcases rock ledges, flowing streams, sand, mud, and amazing mountain views. The trail itself varies in distance and begs to be further explored. The constant change in erosion and flash floods change the terrain and trail, it’s a new challenge every single time.
Twice we’ve visited it and twice the experience has differed, this third time will be no different. So, what can you expect? Honestly, we can’t tell you for certain, you’re just going to have to experience it for yourself. What we do expect is a large contingent of people this time around! That means, plan ahead, pack essentials, fuel up, and be ready for a full day’s trip. Some of us are planning on staying and enjoying Alamogordo. Check the weather because we promise, it can turn on us!
The trail starts off at the edge of a vineyard and follows the winding riverbed North into the canyons at the foot of the Sacramento Mountains. Along the way we will face a series of obstacles that will not disappoint! At some point, we stop to cook out and enjoy the views before finishing the trail. If you’re interested in taking on the canyon, register early! We plan extensively to ensure our group moves along the obstacles at a decent pace. With a large number of interests, we need to plan out this trip down to the minute! We look forward to seeing you there! Keep an eye out for departure times and more information on our social media as the date gets near.
